Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, graduate studies faculty members organized a specialized scientific workshop for master’s students on the requirements of the Tests course (test construction and standardization). The workshop was delivered by Prof. Zahra Shihab, Prof. Faris Sami Yusuf Malik, and Dr. Laith Mohammed Abdulrazzaq.
The workshop provided a detailed explanation of test construction mechanisms based on scientific principles, including procedures for logical validity and statistical relative importance, as well as methods for calculating reliability, objectivity, and discrimination power using SPSS. It also covered the steps of statistical standardization through standard scores (z-scores and t-scores), along with methods for drawing and interpreting normative levels.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion session in which students’ questions were addressed, and guidance was provided toward key scientific references that support completing course requirements according to sound methodology and rigorous research standards. This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals related to Quality Education, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Partnerships for the Goals.
