The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, along with the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Mohammed Abdulhussein Atiya, received the Iraqi lacrosse national team in recognition of their honorable participation in the Asian Lacrosse Championship held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the team won the silver medal—an unprecedented achievement at the continental level.
During the meeting, the Dean expressed pride in this outstanding sporting accomplishment, emphasizing that it reflects the advanced level reached by the college’s students, especially as a number of national team players are students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, successfully combining academic excellence with athletic distinction.
The players, in turn, expressed their gratitude to the college administration for its continuous support and for providing a conducive environment that contributed to developing their athletic capabilities. They reaffirmed their determination to continue training and striving for further achievements in upcoming competitions.
The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of supporting young athletic talents and promoting student participation in regional and international championships, thereby strengthening Iraq’s sporting presence at the Asian and global levels.
