The Individual Sports Branch at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Combined Events of the Decathlon”, with the participation of a number of faculty members and students. The workshop was held as part of the college’s scientific activities aimed at enhancing both the theoretical and practical aspects of athletics.
The workshop aimed to highlight the mechanism for organizing decathlon events by dividing competitions into morning and afternoon sessions in a way that aligns with physical performance requirements. It also emphasized the importance of proper workload management for athletes. The speakers explained that the decathlon is one of the most physically demanding competitions, requiring scientifically planned distribution of events to reduce fatigue and achieve optimal performance levels.
The workshop included a detailed explanation of event scheduling and the training principles used in managing physical effort, in addition to scientific discussions that enriched the practical dimension of the topic. The workshop was delivered by a group of specialized lecturers.
The organizers concluded by stressing the importance of continuing such scientific activities to enhance students’ knowledge and expertise in combined events and athletics.
