Dr. Wissam Najib Asliwah, a faculty member at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Baghdad, and Director of the Education and Coaches Development Department at the Iraqi Football Association, participated in the AFC PRO-Level Instructors and Tutors Course. The course is part of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) program aimed at developing educational leaders and enhancing the competencies of coaches across Asia.
The course included a series of advanced specialized lectures combining theoretical and practical aspects, focusing on leading training units in PRO-level courses, match analysis, identifying performance errors, planning training according to modern performance standards, as well as tactical principles in football, transitions of play, game models, and match management systems and styles.
As part of his academic assignments during the course, Dr. Wissam delivered a presentation outlining future plans for developing instructors and coaches within the Iraqi and Asian football federations, emphasizing the principle that a qualified instructor produces a competent coach, a competent coach develops distinguished players, and this ultimately leads to an advanced playing model.
This participation reflects the active role of the faculty members of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in advancing sport at both local and Asian levels, and in strengthening the University of Baghdad’s presence in specialized international programs, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education, decent work and economic growth, and partnerships for achieving the goals.
