The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “Managing and Registering on ORCID,” delivered by Dr. Mohammed Jawad, the college’s scientific journal coordinator, with the attendance of faculty members.
The workshop covered three main aspects:
•Standardizing research identity: Helping researchers use an ORCID ID to link all their academic work under a single identity.
•Reducing administrative burden: Enabling integration with publishing and funding systems to streamline processes.
•Enhancing visibility and collaboration: Increasing researchers’ exposure and facilitating connections with other scholars.
The workshop aimed to provide each academic researcher with a unique digital identifier, minimizing name ambiguities and ensuring consistency when applying for funding, academic publishing, and peer review processes. Additionally, it emphasized improving research credibility and making it easier to connect scholarly outputs on a global scale.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing academic research management, and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by promoting digital solutions in scholarly communication.
