A master thesis was discussed at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences/ University of Baghdad by the student (Shams Gazwan Sadeq) within the specialty of (Motor Learning- Swimming). The thesis was titled “Designing a Series of Videos According to the Strategy of Educational Presentations Using Auxiliary Tools and Their Impact on Teaching Freestyle Swimming among Learners Aged 8-10 Years.” The discussion committee consisted the following:
•Prof. Ahmed Thamer Mohsen / Chairman
•Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Farhan / Member
•Asst. Prof. Ali Maki Mahdi / Member
•Prof. Ishraq Ali Mahmoud / Supervisor
•Asst. Prof. Yasar Subaih Ali / Supervisor
The objective of the research was to design a series of videos according to educational presentations strategy by using auxiliary tools for learning freestyle swimming for learners aged 8-10 years, to identify the effect of these series of videos for the same group of learners, and to determine the superiority of learning freestyle swimming between the educational curriculum prepared by the researcher and existing curriculum for the learners aged 8-10 years.
The researcher selected experimental method using two equal groups(experimental and control) with pre-tests and post-tests. The researcher chose the new learners of freestyle swimming (for the research population) and students from the Swimming School at the Iraqi Central Federation for Aquatic Sports aged 8-10 years randomly (for the research population) which are totally 23 learners (three learners were excluded for the exploratory experiment, leaving a sample size of 20).The researcher then randomly divided the sample into two equal groups, experimental and control, with each group consisting of 10 learners.
The researcher recommended the necessity of using a series of videos according to the strategy of educational presentations with auxiliary tools in teaching freestyle swimming in schools specialized in swimming education and designing video series for teaching other types of swimming (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke), using auxiliary tools like snorkels in learning and developing specific performance skills, conducting similar studies using a series of videos according to the strategy of educational presentations on samples of different ages and in different sports, and the possibility of using other teaching strategies to teach swimming to various samples.
