The research aims to construct a scale of perceived cognitive competence at volleyball for second- stage at the College, identifying the educational units by using divergent thinking strategy to teach the performance accuracy of some volleyball skills to second- stage students, characterizing the impact of divergent thinking strategy on some volleyball skills to second- stage students at the college. The experimental method relied on designing two groups: experimental and control groups with a sample of 46 students. Forty-six students (50%) of second- stage students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences/ University of Karbala were selected for the academic year 2023/2024 and then randomly divided into two equal groups according to the experimental design. Additionally, a similar sample of second- stage students (200 students) at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences/ University of Baghdad was selected for the purpose of developing the under-research scale. A paper-and-pencil scale was developed for perceived cognitive competence in volleyball according to various methodological steps, procedures, and statistical analyses.
