The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis by Hassan Hadi Saleh, entitled “The Effect of Special Exercises Using Weights and the Peak Point Device on Selected Physical Abilities, Biomechanical Variables, and the Accuracy of High-Jump Long-Distance Shooting among Handball Players Aged 14–16.”
The study aimed to develop special exercises using weights and the Peak Point device, design a training device to improve high-jump long-distance shooting, and investigate their effects on selected physical abilities, biomechanical variables, and shooting accuracy among handball players aged 14–16.
The researcher used an experimental design involving three groups: a control group, a first experimental group, and a second experimental group. The sample consisted of 18 players from the National Handball Talent Centre in Baghdad, randomly divided into three groups of six players each. The control group followed the regular training programme.
The researcher concluded that weight-based exercises improved several physical abilities and biomechanical variables. Adding the Peak Point device to the weight-based exercises was more effective than using weights alone or the regular training programme, as the combination of resistance training and immediate feedback contributed to improvements in physical, mechanical, and technical performance, as well as the accuracy of high-jump long-distance shooting.
