The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Baghdad, held an awareness workshop entitled “Body Image among Female Athletes: Between Health, Performance, and Social Media Pressure.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Hamid Kazar and Assistant Professor Dr. Wafaa Sabah, with the attendance of a number of the College’s female students.
The workshop addressed the concept of body image among female athletes and its relationship to mental health, athletic performance, and self-confidence. It also examined the influence of social media and the idealized images circulated online on women’s perceptions of their bodies.
The workshop emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy and balanced understanding of the body, focusing on health, physical ability, and athletic skills, and avoiding comparisons and unrealistic standards of appearance.
This workshop was part of the awareness activities organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division to promote health and psychological awareness among the College’s female students and support women in sports.
