The President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Atiyah, accompanied by the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, hosted Ali Ammar Yousir, an Asian weightlifting champion and silver medalist at the Asian Games, who is also a student at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. He was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Saleh Mahdi, the athlete’s coach and supervisor during the competition. The meeting was held in recognition of the student’s outstanding sporting achievement and his distinguished performance at continental and international sporting events.
The University President praised the student’s sporting performance, emphasizing that this achievement is a source of pride for the University of Baghdad and the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. He noted that it reflects the talents and capabilities of university students and their ability to achieve outstanding results and raise Iraq’s profile at major sporting events.
For his part, the student expressed his appreciation to the University President for the warm reception, support, and recognition. He affirmed that this attention provides strong motivation to continue training and exert greater efforts to achieve further accomplishments in his sporting career and represent the University and Iraq in the best possible manner.
This achievement further highlights the important role of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in supporting talented student-athletes and providing an academic and sporting environment that contributes to developing their abilities and achieving further success.
