The College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Baghdad hosted a specialized workshop on developing the capacities of executive teams responsible for implementing the Iraqi National Sports Strategy on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. The workshop was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Hassan Ali Karim, and delivered by Dr. Samer Mubarak, Deputy Head of the Advisory Board at the Prime Minister’s Office, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, and members of the Supreme Committee and subcommittees of the national strategy.
The workshop aimed to enhance administrative and organizational skills and improve planning, monitoring, and execution processes in line with national objectives for developing the sports sector in Iraq. It addressed key topics such as implementation planning, infrastructure management, performance indicators, sports media, and sports legislation, alongside challenges and proposed scientific solutions.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional and human capacities to achieve sustainable sports development and enhance Iraq’s presence locally and internationally. They recommended continuing training programs and reinforcing cooperation among sports institutions to ensure successful implementation of the national strategy.
