
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad has achieved first place nationwide in the Iraqi National Ranking of scientific departments of Colleges of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and their divisions, issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority. This academic achievement reflects the college’s distinguished scientific standing and its leadership at the national level.
The Dean of the College, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, stated that this excellence is the result of sound scientific planning, continuous support for scientific research, encouragement of publication in reputable academic journals, and the development of curricula in line with the standards and requirements of the national ranking. He added that this progress is the outcome of the sustained efforts of the college administration as well as the academic and administrative staff, and their commitment to enhancing scientific and research performance while adopting quality assurance and academic accreditation standards in educational programs. He further affirmed that the college will continue to strengthen its academic and scientific trajectory in a manner that contributes to serving the community and advancing the reality of higher education in Iraq.
This achievement supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) ,SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDC 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through promoting excellence in higher education, research quality, and institutional development.
