Under the patronage of the Dean, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, and in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s directives, the Scientific Committee of English Language at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences organized an awareness workshop titled “Drug Risks: Prevention and Treatment Strategies” on Sunday, 16 November 2025.
The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ and staff awareness of the dangers of drugs by discussing common types of narcotics, methods of manipulation and promotion, and their health, psychological, and social impacts. It also presented scientific approaches for prevention, early intervention, and treatment, along with practical solutions to limit drug spread in the community.
The event was attended by the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Thamer Hammad Rijah, the Head of the Graduate Studies Division, Dr. Tareq Nazar Majeed, as well as faculty members, staff, and postgraduate students, who commended the workshop’s scientific value and its role in supporting national anti-drug efforts.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion where participants offered recommendations to enhance awareness programs within the university environment and emphasized the importance of sustaining initiatives that align with the Ministry’s and the University of Baghdad’s vision for protecting students from behavioral risks.
This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education).
