Faculty members from the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Baghdad took part in the International Scientific Conference on Movement Sciences, hosted by the University of Zagreb, Croatia, held in parallel with the World Wrestling Championship.
The Iraqi academic delegation included Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jawad Kazem, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Farhan Ali, Prof. Dr. Hussein Subhan Sukhi, Dr. Tareq Ali Youssef, and Asst. Lecturer Abbas Fadel Jawad, who actively participated in the scientific sessions of the conference.
The research team presented their scientific paper titled “Diverse Breathing Mechanisms and Their Role in Selected Physical and Physiological Aspects of Wrestlers,” which highlighted the importance of breathing as a fundamental element for improving athletic performance and physiological functions. The study further emphasized the practical applications of these findings in sports training.
This participation reflects the College’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and embracing global academic experiences that enhance scientific research and advance the field of sport sciences in Iraq. By promoting knowledge exchange, building international networks, and supporting innovation in sport sciences, this engagement contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
