Prof. Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Baghdad, along with Dr. Thamer Hamad Rajah, Administrative Assistant, and Dr. Luay Sami Rafaat, Secretary of the College Council, welcomed Brigadier General Naseer Abdul-Sattar Shihab, Director of the Department of Relations and Media at the General Traffic Directorate, and Lieutenant Qasim Hamid Ahmed.
The visit coincided with the beginning of the new academic year (2025–2026), during which the delegation from the General Traffic Directorate delivered an awareness lecture that addressed methods of safe road use and reducing traffic accidents, in addition to promoting a culture of adherence to traffic rules. The lecture witnessed active engagement from faculty members, staff, and both undergraduate and postgraduate students, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in strengthening community awareness and fostering a culture of safety within and beyond the university campus, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
The Dean of the College affirmed that cooperation with security and service institutions is a fundamental step in supporting efforts to raise traffic awareness among students and society, highlighting that road safety is an integral part of public safety and directly contributes to achieving SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
At the conclusion of the visit, Brigadier General Naseer Abdul-Sattar Shihab expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the College, represented by its Dean Prof. Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, for the warm reception and the commitment to strengthening a culture of awareness and road safety both inside and outside the campus.
