In an atmosphere filled with pride and athletic support, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, along with Prof. Louay Sami Rifaat, Secretary of the College Council, welcomed the Iraqi junior national volleyball team as they prepare to depart on Thursday to Amman, Jordan, for the Arab Championship.
During the reception, Prof. Khalaf expressed his great joy in hosting one of the national teams and providing the necessary facilities for their training sessions in the college’s sports hall before departure. He recalled the rich history of Iraqi volleyball and its prominent figures over past decades, wishing the team outstanding results that reflect the reputation of Iraqi sports and mark the return of Iraqi volleyball to success in regional and international tournaments. He affirmed that the college’s fields and halls remain open to national teams in support of Iraqi sports.
Mr. Alaa Shakir, member of the Iraqi Volleyball Federation, expressed his gratitude to the college’s administration for this initiative, appreciating its significant role in supporting athletes and sponsoring national teams. He emphasized that such support serves as a strong motivation for players to achieve the best possible results. The team’s coaching staff includes Prof. Alaa Mohsen Yasser, Head of the Team Sports Branch.
