As part of its continuous efforts to promote volunteerism and social responsibility, the Higher Committee for Voluntary Work at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Baghdad—with the participation of a group of faculty members and students—organized two humanitarian campaigns on Tuesday, 1 July 2025. The initiatives aimed to support both the Al-Salihiya Orphanage and the My Mother and Father Home for the Elderly.
The first campaign focused on visiting the Al-Salihiya Orphanage, where essential supplies such as food items were provided, alongside a new refrigerator for food storage. The team also distributed gifts to the children, creating an atmosphere of joy and happiness.
The second campaign reached out to the My Mother and Father Home for the Elderly, which houses forty elderly women. The visit included delivering food assistance and other essential supplies, in addition to hosting friendly gatherings that brought smiles and comfort to the residents.
The committee emphasized that these initiatives reflect the college’s dedication to nurturing a culture of giving and serving the community, praising the enthusiastic engagement of faculty, staff, and students who showed a steadfast commitment to supporting vulnerable groups across society. Through these humanitarian efforts, the college contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, by enhancing social integration, improving the quality of life for marginalized groups, and fostering compassion and solidarity.
