Two faculty members from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad—Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Ismail, Executive Board Member of the Iraqi National Paralympic Committee representing Iraq, and Prof. Iman Abdul Ameer—participated in the Sharjah International Scientific Conference for the West Asia and Middle East Region on Adapted Physical Activity, held from May 26–27, 2025, in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
This participation supports the promotion of quality of life for persons with disabilities in the field of physical education in the UAE. The conference focused on discussing ways to integrate individuals with disabilities into society through enhanced participation in sports activities, supporting self-realization, and empowering them within their communities.
Such international scientific conferences aim to advance sports for persons with disabilities and to develop effective strategies for their support. The presence of a specialized delegation reflects Iraq’s institutional and academic commitment to this vital segment of society.
This contribution aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 3 Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4 Quality Education, and Goal 10 Reduced Inequalities, by promoting inclusive practices in sports and education for people with disabilities.
