Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Department of Research and Development at the Ministry organized a workshop titled “Innovation Management to Strengthen Business Incubators and Science and Technology Parks in Universities.” The event was hosted by the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad and attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Haider Abd Dhahad, the Director General of the Department of Research and Development, Prof. Lubna Khamees, the President of Al-Farabi University, Dr. Muhannad Mahdi, Vice Presidents of the University of Baghdad — Prof. Suhail Najm Abdullah for Scientific Affairs and Prof. Raghad Abdulrazzaq Al-Hashemi for Administrative Affairs — along with Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, Dean of the College, Dr. Thaer Al-Jader, Director of the Department of Entrepreneurial Project Management, and a group of expert professors from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the strategic leadership of technology incubator managers, explore successful global best practices, support entrepreneurship and startups, and enhance the links between universities and industrial projects.
The event also featured an interactive session between Dr. Baqir Al-Ardhi, representative of the Ministerial Committee, and the visiting professors from the Islamic Republic of Iran, alongside interested participants from Iraqi universities. The session focused on mechanisms for collaboration between Iranian universities, UK universities, and Iraqi academic institutions to exchange insights and expertise, transforming ideas into projects that support students, boost entrepreneurship, and contribute to sustainable development.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 Quality Education, Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by fostering innovation, academic-industry partnerships, and the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems within higher education.
