Under the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, the Referees Committee and Department of the Iraqi Football Association, in cooperation with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, organized a football refereeing course for outdoor football from May 25 to 27, 2025.
A number of the college’s students participated in the course, which aimed to qualify new cadres in the field of refereeing in accordance with the standards adopted by the Iraqi Football Association.
The course included both theoretical and practical lectures delivered by Mr. Kazem Ouda Lazem, an accredited instructor and assessor with the Asian Football Confederation. The topics covered included an introduction to the Laws of the Game and their recent amendments, decision-making mechanisms, and match management skills. This course is part of the annual activity plan of the Team Sports Branch and the Scientific Committee for Football.
This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 Quality Education and Goal 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth by building professional capacities, promoting sports education, and providing students with specialized career opportunities in the field of refereeing.
