The Career and Employment Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a training workshop titled “Enhancing Youth Participation in Decision-Making” on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The session was led by Dr. Ahmed Hashem, Assistant Lecturer Ali Abdul Salam, and Assistant Lecturer Qaisar Faris, with the participation of undergraduate students.
The workshop focused on promoting a culture of listening to youth, taking their opinions seriously, and challenging traditional views that underestimate their leadership abilities. It also highlighted successful young leaders in decision-making, emphasizing that by implementing such strategies, youth can actively contribute to shaping the future and fostering sustainable community development.
The workshop aimed to:
•Raise awareness among youth about their role in decision-making at various levels.
•Develop critical thinking and decision-making skills among young individuals.
•Educate youth on effective participation mechanisms in political and social life.
•Encourage constructive dialogue between youth and decision-makers.
This workshop contributes to quality education by equipping youth with essential decision-making and leadership skills. It also supports gender equality and social inclusion by advocating for youth representation in leadership roles. Additionally, it fosters strong institutions and sustainable communities by encouraging active youth participation in shaping policies and societal progress.
