Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, and supervised by the Head of Theoretical Sciences Department, Prof. Faleh Hashem Fanjan, the Human Rights Scientific Committee at the college organized a workshop titled “The Effectiveness of Iraqi State Institutions in Combating Terrorism, Violent Extremism, and Organized Crime.”
The workshop covered three main topics:
1.National Strategies in Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime
Presented by Prof. Ahmed Adnan Kazem Al-Kinani, this session focused on the mechanisms for stopping terrorism financing.
2.Addressing the Impact of Terrorism and Organized Crime on Society.
Dr. Marwan Jasib Bandawi provided insights into supporting national institutional efforts in Iraq.
3.The Oversight Role of Educational Institutions in Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism
Assistant Lecturer Haneen Amer Aayed presented a study on the role of intellectual and educational elites in this context.
The workshop emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions to address these critical issues and highlighted the significant roles of academia and education in fostering a secure and resilient society.
These activities support the UN Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education (4), Innovation and Infrastructure (9),Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (16), and Partnerships (17).
