In the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, and members of the College Council, the Basketball Championship for the academic year 2024/2025 concluded on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The event was organized by the Team Sports Department, under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Alaa Mohsen Yasser, and with continuous follow-up by the Basketball Scientific Committee, led by Prof. Fares Sami Youssef Shaba.
Students from the second, third, and fourth years participated in the championship, which lasted for three days. The competition resulted in the second-year team winning first place, followed by the fourth-year and third-year teams in second and third places, respectively.
At the conclusion of the championship, a basketball match was held between the faculty team and the second-year team, with the faculty team securing a victory with a score of 77–66. The match was attended by a large audience of faculty members and students and was characterized by excitement and competitiveness throughout.
The Dean of the College praised the significant role played by the academic departments in enhancing the students’ academic and athletic levels. He also highlighted the positive impact of such competitions on students, fostering mutual respect and high sportsmanship between students and their professors, creating a vibrant sports atmosphere.
