The student (Zahaa Mohammed Abdulhasan) discussed her doctoral dissertation titled “Special Exercises for the Running Curve by Using Supporting Equipments and Their Effect on Some of the Biomechanics Changes on the Strides and Specific Physical Abilities and the Achievement of 400m Hurdles under the Age 20 Years” within the specialty Biomechanics – Swimming. The discussion committee consisted of the following members:

•Prof. Intisar Rasheed Hameed / Supervisor
The significance of the study lies in using special exercises for developing certain physical abilities and using supporting equipments for hurdle training. The research aimed to examine the impact of these exercises on certain biomechanics changes, specially the center of gravity over the hurdle and variables such as speed, acceleration, time between hurdles. Additionally, the study highlighted the impact of biomechanics in finding solutions for certain issues and obstacles to elevating the performance level of athletes and achieving success in events where technical skills are crucial, specially in the 400m hurdles under 20 years category. The researcher used the experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design for a sample of six players out of eight, from the under-20 national team for the 400m hurdles event. The researcher presented the study results related to specific physical abilities, biomechanical variables, and achievement, discussing them scientifically to verify the research hypotheses.
The researcher concluded that the special exercises used with supportive devices have a strong impact on performance, contributing to the development of specific physical abilities and improving some biomechanical variables to achieve better results. The researcher recommended the necessity of using performance-specific exercises and designing modern, real-time reading devices in training sessions. It is also crucial to link the mechanics of performance with sports training due to their significant combined importance, ultimately leading the athlete to high achievement.
