The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at University of Baghdad discussed a Master’s thesis by student Zakaa Jamal Hattab titled: “The Effect of a Counseling Program on Reducing Some Psychological Barriers Among Junior Volleyball Players.”
The study aimed to examine the impact of a counseling program in reducing psychological barriers among junior volleyball players aged 14–17, including fear of failure, social pressure, fear of confrontation, distraction, and lack of concentration, all of which significantly affect athletic performance and stability during adolescence.
The research highlighted the importance of measuring these psychological barriers through reliable and valid assessment tools, followed by designing and applying a counseling program to evaluate its effectiveness.
The findings concluded that integrating psychological counseling programs into youth training plans is both scientifically and practically essential to support psychological development and achieve more stable and efficient sports performance.
