The study aimed to identify the effect of compound exercises based on play positions on developing some physical, motor, functional, and basic skills of football players aged 16-18 years. The hypothesis suggested statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-test results in physical, motor, functional, and basic skills according to play positions for the football players aged 16-18 years, employing the experimental method.
The researcher concluded that compound exercises have an effect on developing these skills of football players aged 16-18 years. The study found that compound exercises significantly improved these skills more than standard training methods in this age group, except for speed-strength of the legs.
The main recommendations include emphasizing the use of scientific principles in designing and preparing compound exercises, focusing on regulating and programming external load components. Additionally, employing diverse compound exercises tailored to play positions to enhance football players’ physical, motor, functional, and skill requirements. Furthermore, conducting periodic pre-, mid-, and post-tests to monitor and adjust training based on players’ development to avoid performance decline and adjust the training program as needed. Finally, Similar studies on different age groups are suggested to develop important physical, motor, functional, and basic skills for football players and to design and innovate new compound exercises according to play positions to benefit practitioners and coaches in the sports field, especially football, which aligns with the goals of sustainable development (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
