A doctoral dissertation titled “The Effect of Rebound Exercises Using a Proposed Device on Some Physical Capacities and Biomechanical Variables of Defensive Basketball Skills in Players Under 18 Years Old,” was discussed by the student Ali Maki Abdulabbas in the field of (Biomechanics/Basketball) at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences/ University of Baghdad.
The discussion committee included the following members:
– Prof. Ishraq Ali Mahmoud (Chair)
– Prof. Mohammed Abdulnabi Mohammed (Member)
– Prof. Rafid Ali Dawood (Member)
– Prof. Intisar Rasheed Hameed (Member)
– Assist. Prof. Sheerzad Mohammed Jaro (Member)
– Prof. Huda Hameed Abdulhussain (Supervisor)
The study aimed to develop a set of rebound exercises using the Fitlights device and some tools consisting of elastic ropes, and to determine their effect on certain physical capacities (explosive power of the legs, speed-strength, transitional speed, motor response speed) and biomechanical variables (knee angle in defensive movement, transition time in defense against passing, transitional speed in defense against shooting, power in defensive pursuit), as well as defensive skills (defensive movement, defense against passing, defense against shooting, defensive pursuit). The researcher used an experimental method with two equivalent groups (experimental and control) and pre-test and post-test designs to suit the nature of the problem to be solved. The sample consisted of 12 young players representing Al-Nomaniya Sports Club, selected purposively, with 6 players assigned to each group.
