The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad discussed a doctoral thesis by Murtadha Sahib Khanjar, entitled “The Effect of Contrast Training Using the French Method According to the Foster Index on Selected Bio-Motor Abilities and Performance in the 100-Metre Event among Sprinters Under 18 Years of Age.”
The study aimed to investigate the effect of contrast training using the French method according to the Foster Index on developing selected bio-motor abilities and improving performance in the 100-metre event among under-18 sprinters. This modern training approach combines maximum-strength exercises, plyometric exercises, explosive-strength exercises, and sprint training within the same training session.
The researcher employed a series of tests to assess bio-motor abilities relevant to the 100-metre event, including explosive strength, strength-speed, maximum speed, and speed endurance, in addition to measuring the athletes’ official 100-metre performance. Pre- and post-tests were conducted according to standardized scientific procedures, and the data were statistically analyzed using SPSS.
The researcher concluded that French-method contrast training based on the Foster Index is an effective training approach for developing bio-motor abilities and improving 100-metre performance among under-18 sprinters.
