University of Baghdad – Digital Repository
The University of Baghdad Digital Repository (UOB) is designed to store, index and share university research outputs in one place. It provides researchers, students and librarians with access to journals published by the University of Bahrain, UOB staff publications (journal articles, conference papers, book chapters), dissertations and theses, and patents.
UOBDR aims to provide open access to the full text of as many publications as possible, whether published by UOB or other publishers. Staff publications that are not open access are indexed in UOBDR with metadata, statistics, author(s) contacts and their URLs.
Google Scholar
Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across a range of publishing formats and disciplines. The Google Scholar index, released in beta in November 2004, includes online peer-reviewed academic journals and books, conference papers, theses and dissertations, preprints, abstracts, technical reports, and other scholarly literature, including court opinions and patents.
Google Scholar uses a web crawler, or web bot, to identify files for inclusion in search results. For content to be indexed in Google Scholar, it must meet certain specified criteria. A previous statistical estimate published in PLOS One using the mark-and-recovery method estimated coverage of approximately 79–90% of all articles published in the English language at an estimated 100 million. This estimate also specifies the number of documents available online. Google Scholar has been criticized for not screening journals and for including predatory journals in its index.
