The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad discussed a doctoral thesis by Ehab Mohammed Farhan, entitled “The Effect of Standardized Exercises Using Water Resistance Weights (Tidal Tank) on Selected Physical, Motor, Skill, and Physiological Abilities of Under-19 Football Goalkeepers.”
The study aimed to develop standardized exercises using Tidal Tank water-resistance weights and examine their effects on selected physical, motor, technical, and physiological abilities among under-19 football goalkeepers.
The importance of the research lies in developing specialized combined exercises tailored to the specific demands of the goalkeeper position. The programme incorporated unstable load training using Tidal Tank water-resistance equipment, along with modern training technologies such as Polar Verity Sense for monitoring and regulating training loads, BlazePod for developing reaction speed, and a Goalkeeper Ball Deflector for specialized goalkeeper training.
The researcher concluded that applying standardized Tidal Tank exercises had a direct positive effect on the physical and motor abilities examined among football goalkeepers. These improvements, in turn, positively influenced selected technical and physiological abilities. The study also confirmed the effectiveness of the training programme’s structure, including its load components, exercises, equipment, and training tools.
