The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Arab Veterans Tennis Championship, hosted by Al-Sayd Club on its courts in Baghdad.
The event was attended by Dr. Aqeel Muften, President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, alongside prominent sports and academic figures. The championship features around 100 veteran tennis players from 18 Arab countries, with the final matches scheduled for Friday, February 21.
Notably, faculty members from the University of Baghdad are also participating:
•Prof. Mohammed Hassan Helail, Head of the Individual Games Department, serves as a member of the organizing committee and a player in the tournament.
•Dr. Kholoud Layeth is competing as a player as well.
This event promotes SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by encouraging lifelong participation in sports and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international athletic collaboration.
