On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, welcomed Spanish expert Ignasi Fabregas, accredited by the Iraqi Olympic Committee and serving as the Executive Director of the Strategic Plan for Preparing Olympic Champions.
During his visit, Fabregas expressed his satisfaction with what he observed at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the college’s facilities and fields, accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Thamer Mohsen, a member of the Olympic Champion Preparation Team, and Dr. Wisam Najeeb Saliwah, Head of the Technical and Development Committee of the Iraqi Football Association.
The visit also involved an overview of the biomechanics and physiology laboratories and the status of postgraduate studies at the college, highlighting their connection to the field of high-performance sports. Specialists provided detailed explanations of the facilities, which Fabregas praised for being well-equipped and supported by extensive expertise.
He emphasized that collaboration with the Iraqi Olympic Committee, implementing the Olympic strategy in a scientific and professional manner, and maintaining communication with scientific institutions and centers are critical steps in building a foundation for preparing Olympic champions.
