A Dissertation entitled “the Effect of Preventive Program for Some Physical and Motor Abilities To Strengthen Knee Joint According to the Genetic Types COL1A1, GDF5, and COL5A1 for Soccer Players” was held on Thursday 26/10/2023. The study was conducted by the PhD student Shetha Hussein Selman under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wassan Henoon and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ilham Abdul Hadi. The discussion panel consisted of Prof. Dr. Usama Ahmed Hussein and chairman, Prof. Dr. Suad Abdul Hussein, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emad Khadem Khlif, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Khaliq, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lina Sabah Meti as members and both Prof. Dr. Wassan Henoon and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ilham Abdul Hadi as supervisors
The discussion was attended by the dean professor Dr. Sabah Qasem Khalef, scientific assistant dean professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul Hussein Attia, administrative assistant dean professor Dr. Thamir Humad Reja as well as many members of the faculty. The study aimed at identifying genetic shapes and heredity in players that are prone to knee injury as well as identifying some physical and motor abilities (strength, strength – endurance, balance, and agility) related to soccer players’ knee joint muscles. In addition to that, the study aimed at designing a prevention program for developing the surrounding muscles related to the knee joint. The importance of the study lies in paying attention to the physical health of players through genetic tests and designing a prevention program to strengthen all muscles while concentrating on the muscles surrounding the knee joint. The researcher hypothesized the lack of mutation in the subjects in COL1A1, COL5A1, GDF5 genes and there are no statistical differences between pre and posttests for the proposed program for some physical and motor abilities (maximum strength, strength – endurance, balance, and agility). The researcher used the experimental method on (22) elite soccer league players and applied four filed tests to conclude that there are significant statistical differences in the prevention program designed to strengthen the knee joint surrounding muscles in some physical and motor abilities as well as the existence of mutations in the subjects. The researcher recommended using these exercises within the proposed program as precaution from joint injuries and including them in training programs. Finally she recomeded making similar studies on other sports as well as including prevention exercises in training programs to strengthen muscles surrounding joints so as to decrease their injury rate especially during transitional phases of annual training
