The President of the University of Baghdad received a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, which included the following Iranian delegation members:Deputy of the International Scientific Cooperation Center

  • Director of the International Relations Department at the Center
  • General Director of Missions and International Student Affairs at the Student Affairs Organization
  • General Director of Technology and Innovation Affairs at the Technology and Innovation Department
  • General Director of Higher Education Planning Office at the Education Deputy
  • Senior Deputy Agent of Education in the Ministry of Health

Representing the Iraqi side were:

  • Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs
  • President of the University of Baghdad
  • President of Al-Mustansiriya University
  • President of the University of Technology
  • Chairman of the Deans of Medical Colleges Committee.
  • Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Mustansiriya University
  • Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Baghdad
  • Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad
  • Director of Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the University of Baghdad

The President of the University explained that the meeting would be divided into two parts: the first part dedicated to discussing cooperation in medical specialties, and the second part focusing on collaboration between Iraqi and Iranian universities in the fields of scientific research and training.

The President of the University of Baghdad presented an overview of the current scientific cooperation, highlighting Iran’s ranking as the tenth partner in joint research with 231 co-authored papers. Enhancing scientific cooperation to match collaboration levels with other universities was identified as a priority.

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs also emphasized the importance of these scientific statistics as they reflect Iraq’s research cooperation with the world.

The Iranian delegation thanked the University of Baghdad for the warm reception and the organization of the meeting. They expressed Iran’s willingness to cooperate with Iraqi universities in all research and academic fields.

The meeting between the University of Baghdad and the Iranian delegation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Collaboration in medical specialties and scientific research promotes SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). This partnership also contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering regional cooperation for common objectives in education and research. Together, they work towards a sustainable future.
