In a remarkable sporting event, Dr. Zaidon Jawad Mohammed, faculty member at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Baghdad, was awarded the Sports Leadership Medal by the Asian Athletics Association for the year 2025. The award came in recognition of his outstanding contributions and long-standing efforts\u2014spanning over 12 years\u2014in advancing athletics across Asia.<\/h6>\n
The honor was presented during the Asian Athletics Congress, held alongside the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea. This recognition underscores the importance of academic leadership in sports development and reflects international appreciation of Iraq\u2019s role in promoting athletic excellence.<\/h6>\n
This achievement also aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It contributes to Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting physical activity and sports as a tool for public health, particularly among youth.
