The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled \u201cMeasuring Blood Acidity Using the Lactate Pro Device and Its Relation to Evaluating the Physical Performance Level of Athletes,\u201d delivered by Prof. Mohammed Mahmoud Kadhim, with the participation of a number of faculty members, postgraduate students, and specialists in the field of sports physiology.<\/h6>\n
The workshop focused on the use of the Lactate Pro device to measure blood lactate levels after physical exertion, considering it one of the most important physiological indicators for determining fitness levels and evaluating an athlete\u2019s endurance and energy recovery during performance, particularly in sports requiring intermittent and high-intensity efforts such as handball.<\/h6>\n
The lecturer explained that the accumulation of lactic acid in the blood indicates the transition into the anaerobic phase, helping coaches regulate training loads and determine the anaerobic threshold specific to each athlete, which contributes to improving performance and reducing the risk of injury and physical fatigue.<\/h6>\n
The workshop aimed to explain the physiological foundations related to lactic acid accumulation during exercise, clarify the relationship between lactate levels and physical endurance, demonstrate how to utilize this data in designing training programs, and enhance scientific awareness among coaches and players regarding the importance of biometric measurements in improving performance and minimizing injuries.<\/h6>\n
This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting good health and well-being through scientific methods that improve athletic performance and reduce injuries, and by supporting quality education through specialized scientific training in sports\u00a0physiology.<\/h6>\n
