On Monday, April 21, 2025, the Department of Theoretical Sciences held a workshop entitled Principles of Effective Sports Training, delivered by Prof. Ammar Darwish Rasheed. The workshop addressed the principles of effective training by introducing key questions as a prelude to the topic, focusing particularly on the physiological response to exercise and the specific performance demands it involves\u2014whether physical, motor, skill-based, tactical, or psychological\u2014based on the unique functional characteristics of each physiological response.<\/h6>\n
The session also explored ways to diversify and enhance athletes\u2019 ability to endure training demands, while avoiding overtraining that could lead to fatigue. It also highlighted the significant increase in training volumes related to competitions by increasing the number of trial matches.<\/h6>\n
The workshop aimed to develop physical and skill-based capacities, achieve optimal performance, prevent injuries, manage recovery and adaptation periods, apply progressive training loads, accomplish both short- and long-term goals, and consider individual differences in terms of age, gender, level, health status, and capabilities, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals: Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, and Gender Equality.<\/h6>\n
