On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Sabah Qasim Khalaf, along with members of the College Council and faculty, participated in activities held as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The events were organized by the college\u2019s three academic departments, showcasing various initiatives.<\/p>\n

The Individual Sports Department organized an athletics competition supervised by the scientific group and faculty specializing in athletics. The Team Sports Department hosted two handball matches among first, second, third, and fourth-year students, overseen by handball instructors. Meanwhile, the Theoretical Sciences Department conducted a lecture on the applications of artificial intelligence in sports, presented by fourth-year students under the supervision of Dr. Suhair Mutib.<\/p>\n

These activities were part of the college\u2019s contribution to Global Entrepreneurship Week, aimed at promoting initiatives and activities as a key element of the university\u2019s and college\u2019s strategy to foster an entrepreneurial culture among students and faculty members.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the Dean emphasized the pivotal role of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in supporting academic institutions to become hubs of innovation and creativity. He highlighted that the sports matches and scientific activities reflect the university\u2019s and colleges\u2019 commitment to creating an academic environment that inspires innovation and creativity.<\/p>\n

The events witnessed significant attendance from faculty and students, with strong engagement in the matches and activities, demonstrating the university\u2019s success in embedding entrepreneurship and innovation as integral components of its academic and community mission.<\/p>\n

These activities align with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (Goal 4) through innovative learning, and Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3) via sports promotion. They also support Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (Goal 9) and foster Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17) by encouraging collaboration and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n
